Alserkal Avenue
Alserkal Avenue serves as the centre of Dubai’s art scene. Often regarded as ‘off the beaten path’, this vibrant hub is located within an industrial area. Many might overlook its hidden gems, but it’s highly recommended for creatives, health and fitness fanatics, art enthusiasts and those looking for new experiences while visiting the Emirate.
Since starting as a single gallery in 2008, Alserkal Avenue has attracted similar ventures to the area. It has evolved into a well-known showcase for gallery exhibits and modern art displays, along with seasonal events and community days held outdoors.
This area is the first of its kind in the UAE and is supported by Rem Koolhaas, a Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate. Even if you’re not a devoted art enthusiast, visiting Alserkal Avenue’s contemporary galleries—including Carbon 12, Leila Heller Gallery, and Gulf Photo Plus—is worthwhile. You can also explore creative spaces like thejamjar, which offers painting classes.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy independent films at Cinema Akil, an arthouse cinema, or watch local performers at The Junction, a venue for the performing arts. For fitness enthusiasts, CRANK Fit offers workout sessions, and you can recharge with specialty coffee at Nightjar Coffee or choose healthy meals at Wild & The Moon.
